Start Your Engines! Registration for DASH+ Now Open!
Registration for DASH+ opened today, launching the exciting new contest that invites high school students to be part of the big solutions we need now to help our environment and to make energy efficiency more participatory.

I am personally very excited to see this contest off and running. For almost a year, I’ve been working daily to learn more about what motivates students to compete – especially in a contest that will have environmental impact and will help fuel our future. I learned that more than anything, today’s high school students want to see how their ideas can change how the world works. That’s why the winning team will travel to Motor City to pitch automakers on their vision for the dashboard of the future. This is a contest with a meaningful prize that promotes real change in America today.
Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, DASH+ challenges students to design a dashboard of the future that incorporates feedback mechanisms and supports behavior change to help drivers maximize fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact. DASH+ is the newest part of the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE Education Program.
What is the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE? It strives to inspire a new generation of viable, super-efficient vehicles that help break our addiction to oil and stem the effects of climate change.
How does the high school student contest relate to the overarching X PRIZE competition? With DASH+, the Progressive Insurance Automotive X PRIZE Education Program is bringing its goal for radical breakthroughs to high school students. While competitors work to make the car of the future, today’s students are designing the dashboard of the future!
We aim to inspire youth to learn more about careers in advanced vehicle development and generate excitement about the energy-efficient vehicle options of the near-future.
So, what do you need to know? DASH+ is open to students enrolled in grades 9-12. Each team must consist of 2-5 students, with a designated adult mentor over the age of 21.
